NOTE: For the Rally Sailors who completed the Sail Indonesia and Sail Malaysia Rally in 2009, please be so kind and send me your email. I will reply how you can receive The Pensea Mariner's Certificate. You rightfully earned it. Let this new tradition continue.
Sadly, there will be no Sail Thailand Rally in January 2010 as planned.
This cancellation is made because of the actions of a few individuals.
The discovery of computer malware and malicious software programming prompted what turned into a lengthy 180-hour investigation. If you are a small business owner like me, you can imagine the impact on the amount of business and goodwill lost in trying to find — and resolve —
this problem.
Due to the findings of this investigation, a report was submitted to the FBI.
In brief, the results of the report state:
An e-commerce spamming operation was uncovered within the Thailand marine industry. The spammers would hijack a [marine] company email name and attach a dubious spam message to it and flood another with 34,000+ emails. This was done to shut down their server and bring false witness to that marine industry business.
As Marina Blue is the Organizer for the Sail Thailand Rally, please know that the Organizers for The Sail Indonesia Rally and The Sail Malaysia Rally wish to see the Sail Thailand Rally continue as their Sister Rally in this annual, legendary voyage again next year.
With help from the marine community, I hope to do so and be of service.
